    Introduction

We all have that friend or sibling who is just impossible to shop for during their periods. Called a “game changer” by multiple researchers, CBD can radically change (and cut down) menstrual cramps routine. If she wants to make a little sanctuary of her bedroom, where she listens to her music and tunes everyone else out, get her CBD.

And if you don’t know what to go for, you can’t go wrong with CBD gummies for menstrual cramps. The best part? Aside from being an enjoyable experience, medical cannabidiol has many other potential benefits. Here’s why more people are turning to CBD to relieve menstrual pain.

How CBD Could Help with Menstrual Cramps?

Menstrual cramps (dysmenorrhea) are a painful experience in the lower abdomen, usually occurring just before and during their menstrual periods. The discomfort is annoying and can be severe enough to put a stop to everyday activities. For the most part, cramps are treated using over-the-counter medication.

Conditions such as endometriosis or the uterus contracting cause menstrual cramps. That’s when the uterus sheds its lining in a monthly cycle. Menstrual cramps tend to lessen with age and become bearable after giving birth. The experience is different depending on the individual.

Researchers have classified menstrual cramps into two groups: primary and secondary. Primary dysmenorrhea is naturally occurring, typically when the uterus contracts. On the other hand, secondary dysmenorrhea is caused by an underlying medical condition, like endometriosis or uterine fibroids.

    CBD for Menstrual Cramps?

Study after study has concluded that CBD can reduce anxiety and ease insomnia. Its role in controlling the body’s response to pain is well established. And so, naturally, people have wondered whether CBD is a natural alternative for managing period cramps, like the many other physical pains it’s calming.

CBD, short for cannabidiol, is extracted from non-GMO hemp cultivated without unwanted chemicals. Hemp seed oil is rich in omega-3 fatty acids and contains low levels of saturated fat. This makes it perfect for therapeutic benefits, including its ability to alleviate pain and reduce inflammation.

Sure, ibuprofen has worked fine to relieve cramping and other uncomfortable menstrual symptoms. But away from the chemicals involved, CBD’s interaction with the body’s endocannabinoid system is seen as a promising new start to treating severe cramping.

How Can CBD Oil Help? The Science Behind it

Full disclosure: research into cannabidiol is limited. But the researchers who have dared to explore the world of Cannabis swear by CBD as a natural alternative for dealing with many chronic pains affecting millions, if not billions, of people worldwide. But does it work?

A 2020 review concluded that CBD contains analgesic properties, meaning it can help reduce pain. Now, hold the excitement! The evidence is insufficient to give CBD solo credit for pain relief. That is because a tiny bit of THC was included in the medication, depending on the intensity of the pain.

Still, a study conducted in 2019 did confirm that women with endometriosis found relief from pain by consuming CBD. The subjects highly rated CBD oils compared to other known physical interventions, such as yoga, stretching, and home remedies. It confirms that CBD makes a more comfortable menstrual experience.

Shopping for the Only Menstrual Pain Essential You Need

It is essential to consider several factors. For starters, you want CBD oil derived from organic hemp. How will you tell the difference? Check for third-party testing for purity and potency. It’s a sure bet for knowing precisely what you are paying for and the value you get in return.

As a rule, research recommends that when shopping for CBD for menstrual pain, go for products paired with THC. Combined, they produce the entourage effect. That’s when the psychoactive and non-psychoactive properties of cannabis complement each other for the good of the body.

Derived from organic hemp, Hempati oil is the perfect solution for menstrual cramps. What sets it apart is its purity and potency – it’s third-party tested to ensure you know exactly what you’re getting and the value you’re getting in return.

In the UK and Europe, for the matter, products containing low THC are entirely legal. Capsules, gummy, or tincture are perfect for menstrual pain. Topical gel or cream works perfectly if you want relief specific to a particular body part. Also, go for full-spectrum or broad-spectrum.

Full-spectrum CBD contains THC and, therefore, comes with all the beneficial compounds found in the hemp plant. That, putting it another way, will enhance the overall therapeutic effect. On the other hand, Broad-spectrum CBD has no THC content, which means it’s suitable for avoiding traces of the psychoactive compound.

    Using CBD for Menstrual Cramps

The instructions are relatively straightforward. First, decide on the appropriate dosage for your needs. As a rule of thumb, begin with a low dose and gradually increase until you achieve the desired effects. In any case, follow the product instructions contained in the bottle.

For topical products, rub on the area affected. You can apply some more after a few hours to bolster the relief. For ingestible products, pay close attention to the dosing guidelines. Generally, start with a low dose and work your way up. Give your body and the CBD time to get used to each other.

For better results, you might have to place and hold the dose of CBD under your tongue and hold it there for about 60 seconds. This hold will allow for sublingual absorption. That means that CBD is quickly absorbed into your bloodstream for faster relief. Just be mindful that the effects may take longer to take effect.

    The Takeaway

While there is still a need for more research, the relationship between CBD and pain relief could one day end menstrual cramps as we know it. No more challenging and uncomfortable days for women. And sure enough, CBD is natural and quite effective for alleviating pain and discomfort.

Choosing the right CBD product and following usage guidelines to take control of your menstrual health. Should symptoms persist, seek the advice of a healthcare professional. With the right approach, you can stop cramps and enhance your well-being with each capsule.
